How to Fix a Broken Printer Ribbon
It might seem like the end of the world when you break a printer ribbon but the good news is that there’s an easy way to mend your ribbon! You can easily repair a broken ribbon by simply taping the two ends back together– it’s that easy.
Once you’ve taped the two ends together, roll the taped section to the used end of the ribbon spool, and voila, you’re good to go. Then just load it back into the printer and shut the cover.
Don’t worry about any crinkles, because the ribbon will advance to the next set of panels once the cover is completely shut. While you’re taping the ribbon, make sure not to get finger prints on it, as it will negatively affect the print quality and even leave visually noticeable finger prints on your card.
A broken ribbon may also be an indicator that your printer needs to be cleaned. Make sure to run a cleaning cycle every time you change or repair a ribbon.
This applies for ID Printer ribbon such as Fargo, Zebra, Magicard, Evolis, Datacard, Pointman, and other major brand.
