While printing a custom hologram with a desktop ID card printer is not possible, there are a few options available that allow you to include holograms on your cards:

• Although Magicard’s HoloKote feature is not a true hologram, it does offer visual security in the form of a watermark. The HoloKote watermark becomes visible when the card is viewed at an angle. Magicard offers the option of four standard HoloMark designs that can be added to your cards by using any direct-to-card Magicard printer. As long as you have a ribbon and enable the feature in your printer’s driver, you are set without any extra costs. If you’d like to have the watermark image be your company logo, customizing this feature may be an option for you!

• If you’d like a true hologram but don’t have the option of custom lamination, consider customizing your card with an embedded hologram in the form of a 2D or 3D foil stamp. Pricing varies depending on how detailed you go with your design. No special equipment is needed to personalize cards with an embedded hologram; any of the card printers ID Wholesaler carries will work.

• If you already laminate your cards and you’d like to customize a holographic image for the highest visual security, custom laminate may be something to consider. As with holographic cards, pricing varies depending on the level of detail, as well as the additional security features you would like. There are minimum order requirements, so if you print around 10,000 or more cards per year, this may be the perfect solution for you..

TIP: You may also be able to add the lamination unit to your existing ID card printer equipment depending on your set up.

If a custom hologram is not necessary, standard holographic cards and laminates are available at a fraction of the cost. It’s important to note that although you’ll still need a lamination-capable printer to use standard holographic laminate, holographic cards work with virtually any card printer.
